Radial Engineering is pleased to announce that the Workhorse chassis and several 500 series modules have been selected for the new James Burton Foundation Studio in Shreveport, Los Angeles.

Radial President, Peter Janis: “When the James Burton Foundation approached us about securing these products for their new recording facility we were excited to be included in the project. Their vision of supporting music education for those in need is one we whole-heartedly support. They’ve been building on this vision and we are honoured to be part of their brand new recording facility.”

The James Burton Foundation Studio will be a professional level studio available to recording artists at standard rates, and available to donees without charge. The James Burton Foundation’s Thomas Detrie explains why the Workhorse and modules were the products of choice: “I decided on the Workhorse because of its modular design, flexible use options, sound quality, and build quality. Our Foundation is non-profit so I appreciate the ability to buy quality components in ‘bite size’ as our needs grow and our budget allows.”

The James Burton Foundation’s Workhorse is currently outfitted with eight Radial modules: JDV-Pre (instrument pre-amp and DI), X-Amp (reamper), EXTC (guitar effects interface), PhazeQ (phase adjustment tool), 2 PowerPre’s (mic preamplifier) and 2 Komits (compressor-limiter).

Detrie has already been working with the new gear and had this to say: “The Workhorse is such a pleasure to use, and I am still discovering the great potential of the modular design and connectivity options. The modules sound great! I plan to add new ones and a second chassis as soon as the budget allows.”

James Burton is also encouraged to have Radial technology as part of the James Burton Foundation’s studio program: “Workhorse is a great addition to our recording studio and we look forward to a long working relationship with Radial Engineering.”

Your donations made this possible.

Randy Young, at Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville GA, teaches a media production course that includes music recording and engineering. While support is adequate for some parts of the program, he lacked instruments so he contacted the Foundation.

Because Thomas County School serves a rural area, and many students come from poverty-stricken homes, Randy opens the studio doors to the community, area churches and their praise bands, many of which feature the high school students as musicians. Randy will use the new guitars in his course, and allow the students to use them as needed outside the school. Randy says, ‘I so appreciate what the James Burton Foundation does to promote music education for young people. This is a prayer answered, not only for our school kids, but also for many kids in the Thomasville community.’

The Foundation thanks Randy Young for his efforts in support of music education in Thomas County Central High School and the Thomasville Community.

Mojave Audio’s associate company is Royer Labs, and renowned microphone designer David Royer designed the Mojave Audio products. The recording industry knows Royer Labs for its modern ribbon microphones. In addition, they were the first to develop a phantom powered ribbon microphone, and a tube-ribbon microphone.

The Foundation also thanks Mark Thompson of Sweetwater Sound for his help.

Muriel Anderson through Music For Life Alliance continues her support for the James Burton Foundation with a recent donation of classroom guitar amplifiers and effects pedals. This donation was in collaboration with Bob Weil of Visual Sound. Music For Life Alliance assists music advocacy groups through awards, grants, and donations. Its goal is to help the many diverse efforts across the country to make music learning accessible to young people who may not otherwise be able to experience the academic, developmental, and social benefits of making music.

Music For Life Alliance also maintains a national database of music advocacy groups to help coordinate individual and organization efforts that support music education.

The Foundation is proud of our long-standing association with Muriel Anderson and Music For Life Alliance. We also sincerely thank Bob Weil of Visual Sound.
